The Edgecam solution, valued for its ability to seamlessly program any machine tool, will be exhibited May 11 and 12 at the Addy Machinery Open House in Clinton Township, MI.
Hosted at the facility of Mazak machine-tool distributor Addy Machinery, the open house will be dedicated to the topic of maximizing productivity in the processing of high-volume production automotive parts using Mazak machines powered by Edgecam.
The event, which will include live cutting demonstrations, will feature parts programmed in Edgecam utilizing the software’s Waveform roughing technology. The parts will be cut on a Mazak QTU-250 lathe and a Mazak VCU-2PC-500A 3 axis milling machine with tooling provided by Kennametal, Inc.
“The folks at Edgecam heard about the event and reached out to Addy to offer their assistance,” said Gary Reed, engineering manager at Addy Machinery. “Within a matter of days, I had demo proposals in front of me for two of our Mazak machines. The demos show off some of the quality features of both machine tools, as well as the Edgecam software.”
The Edgecam Waveform roughing strategy is a high-speed machining cycle that delivers consistent tool-engagement with the material, thereby maintaining constant tool-cutting load. By generating smooth toolpath to avoid sharp changes in direction, Edgecam Waveform maintains machine-tool velocity while decreasing cycle time and increasing tool life and is standard on the lathe and milling modules.
Edgecam is market-leading CAD/CAM software for CNC programming. With unparalleled ease of use and intelligent toolpath generation, it’s the only CAD/CAM system you’ll need for 3D milling, mill-turn machining, and multi-axis machining.
