Two New Vero Software Products at IMTS 2018 Sept. 10-15 in Chicago

Vero Software introduced two new solutions, the Designer direct modeling system and Edgecam Inspect for on-machine probing, Sept. 10-15 at International Manufacturing Technology Show IMTS 2018, 2018, hosted at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
As one of the largest manufacturing trade shows in the world, IMTS is an ideal event for seeing the latest in cutting-edge technologies, networking with industry experts and peers, and learning new methods for increasing productivity.
Visitors to IMTS could learn more about Designer and Edgecam Inspect at booth No. 133114, where demonstrations of the solutions, designed to deliver both greater efficiency and part quality, were presented.
Designer is a powerful new direct modeling system developed to fill the gap between CAD and CAM by focusing on needs specific to machinist programmers. As a stand-alone, optional application for the Vero CAM portfolio, Designer enables users to create new designs or modify existing geometry from third-party CAD systems.
Designer represents the CAD framework that will become the core modeling engine for all Vero CAM applications. The solution is not dependent upon having a series of parameters that drive it, or a feature tree. It provides a very quick, dynamic editing and modeling environment wherein users simply sketch, drag, hold, push, or twist to create and modify models.
Having this single and unified solution for solids-based designs gives Vero users the flexibility of receiving a CAD file from any source for review or modification.
Some modelers do not maintain adequate tolerances, so the models will often require a degree of repair – or if they’ve only been roughly modeled there may be gaps in the geometry. Designer allows users to read the native CAD data, clean up any poor geometry, close the gaps, stitch it into a solid, and then make modifications that are important to the CAM process — such as the suppression of features, or the modification of draft angles.
Generally, those modifications do not impact a part’s design or performance, but will make it more manufacturable.
Edgecam Inspect combines industry-leading metrology tools and know-how from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence with cutting-edge manufacturing expertise from Vero Software. The solution is a full-featured, easy-to-use system for users who want the rapid generation of on-machine measurement cycles with quick, efficient toolpath and reliable measurement results.
Edgecam Inspect offers unparalleled ease of use and sophisticated probe path generation for both in-process and end-item part inspections.
Complex CNC machining operations can be easily validated with in-process measurements using Edgecam Inspect. Manufacturers who are producing high-value parts can quickly and easily develop probe path and integrate measurement cycles with machining cycles.
The solution provides a comprehensive set of geometric features and constructions for measuring part characteristics, such as webs, pockets, thicknesses and heights, while the intuitive user interface and work flow allows the user to seamlessly transition from programming CAM cycles to measurement cycles.
Probe calibration algorithms in Edgecam Inspect offer the user several choices when calibrating the probe for measurement tasks. Proprietary algorithms for managing probe radius compensation in every measurement scenario ensure the user of the integrity of the measurement results under multi-axis measurement scenarios.
